We are writing to let you know that railway engineers will be carrying out essential railway engineering work between Yeovil Pen Mill and Weymouth, from Saturday 28 February to Sunday 8 March.
During this time, Network Rail engineers will be working to strengthen the embankments between Chetnole and Maiden Newton around the Evershot Tunnel. To do this, the team will be cutting through soil and rock to stabilise the slope by using soil nails and netting.
This work will protect the railway from landslips, which could cause longer closures as well as posing safety risks to our passengers.
Throughout the closure, buses will replace trains between Yeovil Pen Mill, Dorchester West and Weymouth.
GWR trains will still operate between Yeovil Pen Mill and Westbury, Bristol Temple Meads or Gloucester via Castle Cary.
SWR trains will still operate between Weymouth and London Waterloo via Southampton Central, plus between Yeovil Pen Mill and Salisbury or London Waterloo.
More information about the replacement bus information can be found here.
