About our Fete & Flower Show

Chetnole Fete and Flower Show is a true celebration of village life, involving almost all members of the community in some way.

The Show is held in the village and takes place on the first Saturday of August each year, between 2 and 5.00 pm.

This is a popular local event with two elements:

A Traditional Flower and Produce Show: Consisting of multiple classes of vegetables, and fruit, flowers, cooked produce, handicrafts, amateur paintings and photography. There is something for all ages and abilities. Judged by external experts, winners can enjoy prizes, trophies and enormous satisfaction!

A Village Fete with side shows such as the ever popular Human Fruit Machine, Coconut Shy, and Welly Wanging, Boules, plus trade stalls, live music, a Dog show, childrens’ events, Petting Animals, a Pimms Stall, Teas and much more.

Money is raised through donations and participation at the event itself, our annual bingo evening and with the generous support of local businesses.  Last year we were grateful to Ashfield Property Management services, Dockside Personnel and The Castle Garden Centre for their invaluable support.

The money raised at the Show all goes to local charities and organisations. Last year we were delighted to make donations to: Chetnole Village Hall; Friends of St Peters; Leigh Brownies; Guides; Gryphon School D of E Group; Radio Sherborne; Sherborne Refugee Association;  Spinal Injuries Association; The Queen’s Memorial Fund; The Rendez-Vous; Wriggle Valley Cricket Club; Wriggle Valley Magazine; Yetminster Girl Guides; Yetminster Scouts.

If you are interested in sponsoring some or part of the show, please contact us by email: chetnoleflowershow@gmail.com

ITS A TEAM EFFORT!

We have great fun organising the event each year and many friendships have been made. We welcome anyone who would like to join in, no matter what age. As a community event, it can even count towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award. As well as entering the Flower Show itself, there is a huge variety of ways you can get involved; from distributing flyers, painting signs, running a stall, setting up on the day or simply donating raffle or tombola prizes. We are open to all ideas and contributions.

Please follow us on Facebook and the Village Diary to see what is planned for the Flower Show 2024!
