What’s On

How to Find Out What’s Going on in Chetnole

Chetnole and Stockwood form a vibrant community with lots happening, so there are various ways you can keep up to date or communicate with the wider village:

IN PERSON

Parish Council Meetings
These are held every two months – a schedule of meetings can be found here. You are welcome to attend.
The minutes are published in draft form with the agenda for approval at the next meeting and then a final version is posted once approved.

Wednesday Coffee Mornings
These are held every Wednesday (except over the Summer holidays) in the Village Hall from 10am to 12pm.  They are an opportunity to chat over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit, with fellow residents.  The mobile post office is also in attendance.

Clubs / Societies / Village Organisations
There are many of these which offer another way to meet people of similar interests and contribute to village life, and details can be found on this site.
If you have a club or society you would like included on the Parish Council website, please get in touch with the parish clerk at clerk@chetnoleandstockwood-pc.gov.uk

St Peter’s Church
Regular Services are held in St Peters.  Communion is held once a month and alternates with lay-led services.  All commence at 10.00 am.These are listed in the Wriggle Valley Magazine.

The Chetnole Inn
The Chetnole Inn is open every day except Monday and sometimes closes just after New Year for a few days.  It is a Free House, offers excellent food (although not every evening) and is also open to bookings for special occasions.  It is best to phone if you want to make a definite booking and contact details are available on their website.

VIRTUAL

This is an email distributed each Friday with a diary of what’s coming up in the week ahead, with notices and information.   To join the mailing list or send a notice please contact Ian Duke at: iangdlingwood@gmail.com  Deadline for notices is 6pm on the Thursday before Friday distribution.

WhatsApp Group
“Chetnole Info”  – Chetnole/Stockwood/Hamlet residents only.  This is a forum to share useful information (e.g. road closures, events, lost & found) or request/offer help (e.g. lifts, recommended suppliers, giveaway items)
You should text James Troup or Naomi Hewitt to be given access (contact details under PC Member info).  There are some rules of engagement which members must read on joining and then adhere to.
There is also a buy and sell group, if you are interested please use the Parish Council contact page and the joining details will be forwarded.

Facebook
There are two groups which primarily consist of local adverts and notices from residents:
Public – “Chetnole Community” – you can simply follow this.
Private – “Chetnole Chat” – Chetnole/Stockwood/Hamlet residents only.  You need to contact a moderator to join.

The Village Hall posts notices in the porch at the entrance to the hall.

Wriggle Valley Magazine
This is a very useful (and award winning!) magazine is distributed by volunteers every month.  Copies can also be found in the telephone box and Chetnole Inn.  It contains news, interesting articles and information on what’s happening up and down the Wriggle Valley.  It’s a free publication but only continues with support from volunteers and advertisers, so please do consider advertising (they have reasonable rates).
Should you have any articles or notices, please contact the Chetnole representative (details in the magazine).  The copy deadline is the 12th of each month.  Note there is a double issue in Dec/Jan and July/Aug.
